Laser race report 2nd March

Another Easterly, but this time a much more benign 6-8 kn, so easier for the joint race committee and Patrol Boat Crew of Tony B and Grainne. A few changes to race committee procedures were made so out with the Frog horn and in with a simple whistle. A large anchor meant that Frantic stayed exactly where we anchored, and the large yellow Fourth Cape windward mark was easily visible from the start line.

The sailors responded with a top quality performance. In the 1st race Charlie White pulled off a wonderful start and looked like he was going to round 1st until Finley from Bermuda, currently at Ryde school, came in on a favourable shift from the left to squeeze round the mark in front. He pulled away downwind and held on to win from Charlie and Oli Smith. Will Bradley, enjoyed the lighter winds this week to finish ahead of Tom Yates.

In the 2nd race the start was just as competitive with Charlie taking a penalty and the individual recall flag shown to Finley and Will. Oli Smith won this race from Charlie with Finley, Will and Tom close behind
