    Royal Victoria Sailing Club Welcomes Brading Haven Gig Rowers

    Royal Victoria Sailing Club gave a warm welcome and hospitality to Brading Haven Gig Rowers Bembridge after a 3 hour row from Brading Haven to Royal Victoria last week. It was a fantastic day out for the rowers and involved one crew rowing to Royal Victoria Sailing Club and one crew returning to Brading Haven Yacht Club.     SUNDAY RACE

    SUNDAY RACE Some of the best racing is the most unlikely and totally spontaneous. This is what happened on Sunday morning. A beautiful early autumn morning but very little wind. However, the Scows were keen to go so we delayed the start for 20 minutes until a whisper of breeze was felt.     Great Bembridge Paper Boat Race

    Despite a cloudy sky, this year's Great Bembridge Paper Boat Race was a huge success with lots of entries.     Clipper Round the World Yacht Race

    Ben and Anna are on the last third of their voyage having exited the Caledonian Canal at Inverness in late June. In the last few weeks they have visited Peterhead, Arbroath, Eyemouth and Tynemouth before a 40 hour passage into Lowestoft last Thursday.     Scow Championships

    Blessed with a lovely weekend after many weeks of cold and wet weather, the 2024 Scow Championships got off to a good start at 10am on Saturday. The F3 wind held up under grey skies and gave a consistent breeze throughout the racing.     Conditions were perfect Friday evening for Spence Willard after school sailing, cadets had to see how many words they could make out of the letters of all the marks they sailed round three up up in the club Swans, well done to our trainee assistant instructors who did a great job helming the Swans round the marks.     Youth National Match Racing

    BHYC cadet Ruby Sunderland claims her second National Title at 16yrs old... On top of her Sonar National Title gained last August. Ruby joined Fred Salter, Killian Boag & Noah Evans and won the Youth National Match Racing Title. 'Proud to represent BHYC and so good to come away with the win.     Gig Rowers News

    It's been a busy few weeks for the Gig Rowers with social rows and event training for the Bembridge Gig Festival over the weekend. Our first big news is that team Brading Haven Gig Rowers competed in their first ever event which was over the weekend.     D-Day Remembrance Service

    This was attended by 80 plus Members and Guests to the Patio area of the Club. The Service was organised by Gorden Wight with the Reverend Deacon Gary May taking the service with contributions from Michael Samuelson, Jeff Cowan and Keith Partington.
