At Brading Haven Yacht Club we welcome all those who would like to learn and improve their sailing and powerboat skills. All of our training is delivered by Royal Yachting Association (RYA) instructors and coaches . As an RYA Recognised Training Centre we are annually inspected to ensure we continue to meet the high standards .At Brading Haven Yacht Club our training and coaching courses support our members in learning to sail, and then helping them grow in skill and confidence to allow them to enjoy sailing safely, and encourage regular participation in Club racing and social sailing.
We run RYA OnBoard After School sailing sessions
RYA Courses
- Youth Sailing Scheme stages 1 - 4
- National Sailing Scheme Levels 1 - 3 followed by Advanced Modules: Day Sailing, Seamanship, Start Racing, Sailing with Spinnakers and Performance Sailing
- Powerboat Level 1 and 2 which can lead to an International Certificate of Competence
- RYA Safety Boat certificate, also a Club Safety Boat Course which helps you enjoy assisting with sailing activities.
Private Lessons
At Brading Haven Yacht Club we can offer private lesson all year round. Private tuition can be 1:1 or 1:2 basis, and can be tailored to any level and ability.
Power Boat Courses
We offer powerboat training to support members in developing the skills to help other club members either by becoming an instructor themselves, or by becoming trained to operate our safety boats and support club racing. As an RYA Recognised Training Centre we are able to deliver certificated training in dinghies and powerboats to our members and affiliated groups. The RYA Training Scheme is recognised as being world leading, and we can offer certificated courses for every level through the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme, RYA National Sailing Scheme (for adults and older teenagers), and RYA Powerboat Scheme.
Coaching
Coaching sessions are offered to all Cadets would have their RYA Stage 3 and above. Sessions are in RS Tera, Lasers and RA Fevas. Coaching sessions are aimed to increase both the skill and confidence of any sailor.
We offer some open coaching sessions with visiting coaches.
OnBoard is the
RYA's children's sailing programme. It offers children the opportunity to try watersports through their local club or centre in a safe, fun and structured environment. OnBoard is a beginner programme that gets people on the water for and at Brading Haven Yact we run the sessions after school in the Summer term. The sessions are sponsored by Spence Willard Estate Agency

RYA Online Courses.
From July 1st 2023, we will be offering RYA online Courses.
- Marine Radio Short Range Certificate
- Essential Navigation and Seamanship
- Safe and Fun ( Safeguarding)
