The Great Paper Boat Race

Last weekend Brading Haven Yacht Club hosted part of the Bembridge Harbour Family Fun Weekend, which included the Great Bembridge Paper Boat Race on the Saturday. This event, which brings together children from the Club's membership, local community and Harbour visitors, saw more participants than ever, with 42 taking part to race their wonderfully creative, handmade paper boats. And there were some adults too, who were every bit as competitive as the younger ones! Thankfully it stayed dry, but the wind direction and incoming tide made for challenging conditions, with many boats struggling to make any headway towards the finishing line. None of that really mattered; the fun and excitement was all there and many congratulations to the winners.
