Autumn Series 1 & 2 Saturday 2 Sept
For the first of the Autumn Series (including the First of the month) we had glorious sunshine, with a gentle breeze.
As this was the first of the month race as well a windward leeward course was set for all classes, with the fast handicap going to a distant windward mark.
The fast handicap set off first, in a gentle breeze. At the finish Tony Burton (crewed by Grainne) just held off Chris Sproat at the line by 2 seconds. Chris claimed the victory on handicap.
In the second race the wind had filled slightly which caused some argy-bargy at the start, leading to Graham Andrews being DSQ. The second race was also won on the water by Tony Burton but again was beaten on handicap by Chris Sproat. The conditions did not suit the 2 Aero boats but they sailed the two races neck and neck.
The slow handicap had 2 races of windward leeward racing. In both races Andy Steward sailing a Swan, handled the conditions well and was first at the line and on handicap,
It was great to see 4 cadet sailors out on the water.
The Scows also had 2 windward leeward races, only two boats completed the two races with Ann Barlow winning the first and Peter Giles the second. The conditions proved to be not ideal for the Scows.
