Brading Haven YC gets the locals geared up for Push the Boat Out

Brading Haven Yacht Club set up a display in their local Isle of Wight Village to attract locals to their Push the Boat Out event on Saturday 12th May.

Polly Schafer and other members of the club's training Team (including Linda Briant, pictured) took one of the Pico dinghies from the club to the nearby village centre of Bembridge, where one of the members had a house with a garden looking over the street.

It was busy full of passers by last Saturday morning, and many stopped to show interest in the event. The team handed out Push the Boat Out flyers and had a banner up.

Polly reported "We got chatting to people from the local community and some are going to come to our taster session next Saturday 12th May. Others used to be members and our display prompted them to think about coming back to the club, and so a number will be visiting on the day."

She added "We also met some current members and had a chat about what we offer and what they would like to see at the club."

"All in all it was a great PR day, and we really enjoyed it!" said Polly.

Brading Haven Sailing Club is at Embankment Road on Bembridge Harbour.

Their Push the Boat Out Day will be offering a taster session in different sailing dinghies in the Harbour and outside in what are marvellous surroundings. For the less adventurous they will offer trips out in a RIB or a larger stable sailing boat. Visitors are also free to explore the club house and facilities.

Please note the event is on Saturday 12th May.  More information about Push the Boat Out.
